Signature work “Little Surfer (Naminori Ochibi)”

Elena’s unique pop brushstrokes and bold contour lines clearly showcase the individual presence of each character, yet they evoke patterns of human connections that are closely interlinked with one another.
Amidst the spray of waves, numerous Chibi-chan characters, each different in appearance and shape, crowd together, their expressions soft and filled with happiness. This represents a “rich diversity”, and at the same time, expresses the questions Elena posed about the typical Japanese education methods she experienced during her adolescence. In her signature work “Little Surfer”, the varied shapes of Chibi-chan, as well as Elena’s own experiences, convey a strong message that “everyone is different and everyone is good”.
